Written by Ming Dao Ting

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
John 1:18
I reckon that a large part of our attraction to visible gods is just that - we can see them. Believing in an invisible God is difficult, and you often feel like you just can’t know for sure if God’s really there. But is all you see all that there really is? |

We’ve all heard the story many times - king David sees beautiful Bathsheba beautiful woman bathing on her roof (whose husband was away at war), sleeps with her, she falls pregnant, and he tries (unsuccessfully) to get her husband to sleep with her to make it to shift the “blame”. Feeling the weight of his guilt and fearing the consequences (adultery demanded the death penalty – Lev 20:10), David orders Bathsheba’s husband to be sent to the front lines of the battle so that he would die. Within a short space of time, David, king of Israel, knowingly broke the sixth, seventh and tenth commandment. And he has no excuse. |
